What is National Identity Card in Nepal?
The National Identity Card (NID) of Nepal is a digital identity card that holds the personal demographic and biometric data of the cardholder on a chip. The card is generated with a unique identification number for every individual.
The demographic and biometric data is collected by the Department of National ID and Civil Registration. The NID card contains a unique number, photo, personal information, and fingerprints of the bearer.
The goal of this card is to replace the current “Nepalese Citizenship” and it will be used for National Identity, personal identity, as Voter ID Card, and as a Social Security Card.

Procedure for NID Registration in Nepal (Rastriya Parichaya Patra)
To obtain the National ID, both online and offline procedures are applicable. The online procedure involves filling out the application, while the offline procedure is done for the biometrics.
Step 1: Visit the Official Site (Online form of NID)
Go to this NID Official Site and click on ‘’Login for Individual” and enter your mobile number and submit OTP.
Step 2: New Enrolment to apply for National Identity Card
Then click on “New Enrollment” fill the details. After filling the details click on “Next”.

3. Appointment for Identity Card NID in Nepal
After filling up the details it is time to select the place and date for biometrics. Generally, after selecting the place the earliest appointment date is automatically generated. If there is not shown any place near to you for the appointment click on “Others” section and click on “Submit” then visit the District Administration Office or Area Administration Office near to you for the appointment date and time with the application and required documents.
